The seven checks
| What to check | Why it matters in New Orleans | REP HVAC |
|---|---|---|
| Visit fee stated before scheduling | The fee is the only price you can compare before a diagnosis. | Yes. Told to you on the phone before anyone is scheduled. |
| Who actually shows up | Big brands subcontract. You want the people on the phone to be the people in the driveway. | Renic’s own crew. No subcontractors. |
| Explains the finding before the repair | Protects you from “you need a new system” on day one. | Yes. You get the finding and the price before work starts. |
| EPA Universal certification | Required to handle refrigerant legally. | Yes. |
| Insurance | A truck in your driveway and a tech in your attic should be covered. | $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate. Certificate on request. |
| Knows local houses | Shotguns, raised homes, slab ranches and attic air handlers each fail differently. | New Orleans based since 2012; serves Orleans and Jefferson parishes. |
| Reachable by phone and text | When the house is 88°F you need a person, not a form. | 504-350-7756, call or text. Quote form goes straight to Renic. |
How to grade any company you call
- Ask for the visit or diagnostic fee first. If they will not say a number, move on.
- Ask who is coming: their employee or a subcontractor.
- Ask whether the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair.
- Ask for the EPA certification and proof of insurance. Any legitimate company has both ready.
- Ask how they handle a repair-versus-replace call on an older system. The honest answer involves the repair price, the age, and the condition of the rest of the system.
- Check reviews on Google and Yelp for the same company name and phone number. Mismatched names and numbers are a sign of a lead-reseller, not a crew.
Where REP HVAC is not the best fit
- Commercial rooftop units and large buildings. REP is a residential crew.
- Guaranteed same-day service. REP tells you real availability when you call; it does not promise what it cannot deliver.
- Published flat-rate pricing. The visit fee is told by phone, and repair pricing follows the diagnosis.
